Water, sewer line upgrade set in Parkesburg

Traffic restrictions will be in place during weekday construction hours

- Staff Report

PARKESBURG >> Pennsylvania American Water is starting water and sewer line improvements along Main Street that will cause traffic restrictions during that project.

Pennsylvania American Water announced the start of construction to install new water and sewer mains in Parkesburg to improve service reliability and increase water flows for firefighting. The approximately $850,000 project will replace nearly 1,400 feet of aging water and sewer pipe, including outdated water main that dates back to the 1920s.

Crews this week will install the new pipe along Main Street between Culvert and West Bridge streets. Weather permitting, the company expects to complete the water and sewer line installation and service connections by the end of this year, with final paving restoration scheduled for early spring 2017.

Construction is scheduled for weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction hours, and motorists are urged to give themselves extra time while traveling through the area or find alternate routes.

During construction, customers might experience temporary water service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
