Mother to speak about faith, healing
Jennifer Hubbard will share her testimony about her faith helping her
Jennifer Hubbard, who lost her six-year old daughter Catherine in the Sandy Hook School shooting, is coming to the Malvern Retreat House on Tuesday to explain on how her faith has helped her overcome tragedy.
Hubbard has shared her uplifting speech on numerous occasions, including a presentation at the National Catholic Educational Association conference. She also is a monthly contributor to Magnificat, a Catholic based publication.
The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, claimed the lives of 20 children who were six and seven years old, as well as six adult staff members. As police approached the school, the shooter, Adam Lanza took his own life. Before he went to the school, Lanza, 20, shot and killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, in their home.
Hubbard says Catherine’s memory reminds her to see God in the smallest of things.
“People get so busy we forget that in the beauty of the sunrise and sunset we can see God’s grace in our lives,” Hubbard said.
Hubbard’s presentations during both a day and an evening of reflection on Tuesday, March 28 will focus on the theme of God as the Divine Physician. She says her journey has helped her “lean into God” and follow him in the midst of good times and bad times.
