Prof finalist for Nightingale Awards
Dr. Jane Hsiao-Chen Tang, a professor at Immaculata University, is a finalist for the Nightingale Awards.
MALVERN » Exton resident Jane Hsiao-Chen Tang, Ph.D., professor of Nursing and chair of the Division of Nursing at Immaculata University, has been selected as a finalist for the Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania in the category of Nursing Education — Academia. Winners for each category will be announced on Nov. 3.
The Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania present awards to exceptional nurses practicing in the commonwealth. Criteria for the Nursing Education category is for nurse educators who have the ability to inspire nursing students and practicing nurses. They creatively stimulate students and colleagues to pursue knowledge and skills needed to practice nursing compassionately and effectively.
“Because educating the next generation of health care leaders is so critical, being a finalist for the Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania is an extreme honor. I am pleased to be among such worthy honorees,” said Tang.
Before arriving at Immaculata University in 2005, Tang held various leadership and teaching positions for the College of Nursing at the University of Iowa. In her native hometown of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, she was a staff nurse at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. In Taiwan, she received her diploma from the National Taipei College of Nursing. She continued her education earning a B.S.N. from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska and received both her M.S.N. and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
