Bradley heads semifinalists in tennis
Downingtown West’s Jordan Bradley led three of the top four seeds into the semifinals of the Ches-Mont League National Division girls tennis tournament with wins at West Chester Henderson on Thursday.
The top-seeded Bradley will face No. 3 Amanda Nguyen of West Chester East in today’s semifinals. Bradley rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Sammy Roberts of Downingtown East in three in the quarterfinals.
Nguyen got by Jessica Liu of Henderson in the quarters, after knocking off sister Amber Nguyen in the second round.
The only surprise in the semis is sixth-seeded Holly Koons of Downingtown West. She took out Abby Bailey of Bishop Shanahan in the quarterfinals.
Koons will face No. 2 Hannah Baxter of Henderson.
Cassidy Landau and Maddie Wood recorded singles victories as the Pioneers (10-1, 14-1) finshed Central League play with the sweep.
Calia Martini and Auria Zhang clinched the nonleague contest. Claire Burke and Sophie Yager notched singles wins.
The Vikings (46) received goals from four different players to post the Ches-Mont victory. Chris Ryan, Ben Delaney, Driss Benslimane and Carlos Calleja dented the net for East. the victory. Morgan Linkins had 10 digs and Ellie Au 14.
