Who wrote the Bible
Dear Chaplain: How do I explain to my co workers that the Bible was written by God, not man? I’m trying to explain that the Bible is God’s words, but they keep telling me it is not because men wrote it. — Signed, Who’s the Author? Dear Who’s the Author: It’s a Biblical law that questionable matters are established by 2 or 3 witnesses. Many legal systems have adopted that law as well. Similarly, in my biblical studies I was taught that scripture backs up scripture. It was a requirement to have 2 or 3 scriptures to support one’s interpretation of the holy text. Therefore, it is not surprising to me that the 66 books of the Bible were penned by 40 different men, who were: mostly strangers, living in different times, cultures, and were of different ages, and some by hundreds of years. Yet miraculously, as many Biblical scholars concur, all 66 books are harmonious and completely agree, to the finest most minute detail. To me, this was by divine design to prove to us that the Bible is truly God breathed, as it says in 2 Timothy 3:16. And that no scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation, but by the Holy Spirit, as it says in 2 Peter 1:20-21. This means the Holy Spirit dictated the Word of God to the holy men, and they physically wrote them. In other words, the Holy Spirit was the author and the men were the transcribers.
So how do you explain this to your coworkers?
First, research some of these scriptures and meditate on them. Second, present your findings to your coworkers, in love, using your own words and convictions about what you believe. And third, give them time process the information and decide for themselves what they want to believe. Only the Holy Spirit can minister to the heart and lead one into spiritual truths. So be respectful of any differences of opinions because everyone has a right to believe as they so choose.
God Bless you.
