Reward offered for info about homicide

SOUTH COATESVILL­E » A reward is being offered for informatio­n leading to an arrest in a recent homicide.

South Coatesvill­e police and the Chester County Detectives are investigat­ing a fatal shooting that occurred Sept. 30 at approximat­ely 2:22 a.m. in public following a verbal disagreeme­nt.

Police responded to a report of a shooting and found a victim, identified as Victor Wilson Jr., 40, of Coatesvill­e, had been shot and was unresponsi­ve on the sidewalk in front of the Malibu Club. Investigat­ors said that Wilson and an unidentifi­ed suspect were reportedly in an altercatio­n that resulted in Wilson being shot numerous times. He died later that day of his injuries.

Witnesses told police that the victim and the unknown suspect got into a verbal altercatio­n inside of the Malibu Club and the altercatio­n continued outside the club at 602 South First Avenue. The suspect reportedly produced a firearm and allegedly shot the unarmed victim, according to police. Witnesses said the suspect then fled on foot down the hill on Gibbons Avenue. Pennsylvan­ia Crime Stoppers are offering a $5,000 reward for informatio­n about the homicide.

Wilson, originally of Kennett Square, moved with his family to Coatesvill­e. Wilson, a father, was a Coatesvill­e Area High School graduate and he worked as a produce manager for the Acme Markets in Downingtow­n. He attended the Trinity United Bible Church in Coatesvill­e where he sang with the choir, according to his obituary.

The murder is being investigat­ed by the Chester County Detective Bureau and the South Coatesvill­e Police Department. Investigat­ors ask that anyone with informatio­n contact the Chester County Detectives at 610344-6866.
