Church seeks to meet needs of 1,000 people this holiday season
WEST CHESTER » This December, Christ Community Church in West Chester, is inviting church and community members to participate in CCC Serves, an initiative designed to benefit the local community. The goal is to meet 1,000 needs of individuals and local organizations that assist people in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
CCC Serves grew out of, Serving from the Heart, an initiative launched in 2008 by the Christ Community Women’s Ministry. “To be hands and feet in Jesus’ name to our community is a beautiful privilege,” said Heather Carter, Women’s Ministry Director at the church. In previous years, the Women’s Ministry has provided board books for young mothers through the Maternal and Child Health Consortium, hygiene items for victims of sex trafficking at the Salvation Army New Day Drop-In Center, and gifts for underprivileged children in Chester through the Andrew L. Hicks Jr. Foundation. This year the church is asking all of its congregants and others in the community to pitch in and make an even bigger impact in the region.
Organizations that Christ Community will support this year include the Salvation Army, Safe Harbor of Chester County, Chester County Youth Center, and the Coates-
ville VA Hospital, among many others. Megan Shannon, Women’s Ministry Associate at CCC said, “each year it’s been awesome to
see the outpouring of God’s love through such an amazing group of organizations that serve our community.”
People from the church will take gift tags with specific needs on the two Sundays after Thanksgiving. They will then drop off donations on Dec. 3 and 10
and participate in other service opportunities the week of Dec. 10.
