Kenneth V. Knuth of Hershey’s Mill
Ken was the husband of Dolores Mary (Ewert) Knuth with whom he shared 70+ years of marriage. Ken was born in Detroit, Michigan August 3, 1924 and graduated from Cass Technical High School. He served with the Third Infantry Division in Would War II, being part of the first waves in both the invasions at Anzio and Southern France, and received two Purple Hearts during his two years overseas.
After being discharged from the Army, he went to work for the Burough’s Adding Machine Co. and served four years as an apprentice, graduation as a tool and die maker. He married Dolores , the girl of his dreams, and they settled in Dearborn, Michigan before moving to Malvern Pa as part of a corporate transfer.
Completing 41 years at Burrough’s/Unisys, he retired as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, attaining several Patents and Achievement Awards for Excellence. For the next 22 years, Ken was employed as Chief Tool and Process Engineer at Spherical Concepts/Herff-Jones in Frazer, Pa. where he designed acrylic accessories for Globe products, and developed many unique production procedures which reduced the costs for manufacturing.
Through the years he was a Trustee at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, Emergency Management Coordinator for Willistown Township, Councilman & Maintenance Chairman for Inverness Village in Hershey’s Mill, and Republican Committeeman for the East Goshen 8 Precinct.
Family and friends would agree that he was a good and faithful servant of the Lord, testifying to his faith by readily helping wherever needed.
His philosophy: “standing in awe of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 1:7) which he attributed to a happy and successful life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and her family, Anita & Jim Osteen, grandson Matthew, Somaly (granddaughter in-law) and granddaughter Brittany. He is preceded in death by a brother Harley, a sister Shirley and son David.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ken’s life celebration service on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11am at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church 89 Line Road Malvern, PA, where friends may visit from 9:30-11am. Interment Philadelphia Memorial Park Frazer, PA.
