John N. ‘Jack’ Welsh of Coatesville, formerly of West Chester
John N. “Jack” Welsh, 81, of Coatesville, formerly of West Chester died Saturday, March 4, 2018 at his daughter Susan’s home.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Neal D. and Marie Witmer Welsh and the husband of the late Nancy Ann Martin Welsh with whom he shared 59 years of marriage before her death in March 2016.
Jack was a 1955 graduate of Coatesville High School and was active with the reunion committee.
He served in the US Air Force during the Occupation of Korea, where he served as a weather broadcaster.
Jack was a time study technician at Lukens Steel Co for 26 years, he was bartender and manager of Exton Lodge for 15 years and was a car wholesaler with Scott Honda for 20 years.
Jack was an avid collector of war memorabilia. He also enjoyed attending car shows and restoring cars with his brother, Bill.
Jack is survived by his son David Welsh of St. Louis, MS; and his daughters Susan Smith and her husband Scott of Coatesville; Kelly Whitworth and her husband Wayne of West Chester; and Kathleen Daniels and her husband Brandon of Glenmoore; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Susan Crager and her husband Jim of Florida and one brother, Bill Welsh of Coatesville.
Jack’s memorial service will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 11:00am where family and friends may call beginning at 9:30am at Wagontown Fire Company, 412 W. Kings Hwy., Coatesville, PA 19320.
Interment will be in the Welsh family Cemetery, All Saints Cemetery, Paradise.
Memorials in Jack’s honor may be made to Chester County Historical Society, 225 N High St., West Chester, PA 19380.
