Woman faces cruelty to animals charge

A Downingtow­n woman faces cruelty to animals and other charges after she allegedly abandoned a dog.

Susan Wharley, 45, of Downingtow­n, faces cruelty to animals and other charges after she allegedly abandoned a dog, leaving it in poor condition.

According to West Whiteland police, the incident took place Jan. 27. Police were notified that Wharley was paid $815 to transport a dog from South Carolina to a residence in Arizona. The person who hired Wharley told police that Wharley later contacted her and said that she could not complete the transport but would not tell her the dog’s location. The dog was later found in the 200 block of Iron Lake Boulevard and was transporte­d to the SPCA. Police said Wharley had abandoned the dog at that location.

Wharley was charged with theft by deception, receiving stolen property, neglect of animals and cruelty to animals. The charges were filed after an investigat­ion. Wharley was issued a criminal summons.

DUI » Mark Kelly, 20, of Exton, was charged with DUI. The charge was filed after officers responded to a one-vehicle crash on the Route 30 Bypass on Dec. 25, 2017. The officers made contact with Kelly, who had been the alleged operator. Kelly was transporte­d to Paoli Hospital for treatment. The investigat­ing officer later served a search warrant for Kelly’s medical records. Kelly was charged after the records allegedly indicated that Kelly was impaired at the time of the crash. Kelly was charged by criminal summons.

FORGERY » Tracey Worley, 51, of Philadelph­ia, was charged with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, forgery, receiving stolen property, access device fraud and identity theft. The charges were filed after an investigat­ion into an alleged theft of a wallet from a female dining at Panera Bread on March 3. Several of the victim’s credit cards were later used to make $5,346 in purchases at area stores. Worley was identified as the alleged actor and he was subsequent­ly charged. A warrant was issued for his arrest and investigat­ors are attempting to locate him.

DRUG CHARGES » Antoinette Porter, 54, of Malvern, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug parapherna­lia. The charges were filed after an officer responded to the Exton Square Mall for a report of a found wallet on March 3. The responding officer checked the wallet which allegedly contained a narcotic and drug parapherna­lia. It was also determined that the wallet allegedly belonged to Porter. Porter was charged by criminal summons.

BAD CHECKS » Tiara Mitchell, 28, of Coatesvill­e, was charged with theft by deception and bad checks. The charges were filed after an investigat­ion into an alleged stolen check that was de-

posited into a personal account at the Malvern Federal Bank branch in Exton. Mitchell was identified as the alleged person depositing the $3,588 check and she was subsequent­ly charged. She was arraigned by Judge John Bailey and released on a $5,000 unsecured bail.

RETAIL THEFT » Natalie Orsini, 48, of Glenolden, was charged with retail theft. The charge was filed after an investigat­ion into an alleged

$25 theft from the style encore on March 20. Orsini was issued a nontraffic citation.

RETAIL THEFT » Danielle Taltoan, 26, of Coatesvill­e, was arrested for retail theft and receiving stolen property on March 22. The charges were filed after officers responded to the Walmart store for an alleged $56 theft. It was discovered that Taltoan had prior retail theft conviction­s so she was arraigned by Judge Jeffrey Valocchi. Taltoan was remanded to Chester County Prison after she failed to post the required 10 percent of her

$10,000 bail.

DUI » Madison Henry, 22, of Exton, was charged with DUI on March 24. The charge was filed after an officer allegedly observed a vehicle speeding on Pottstown Pike. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Henry, who was the alleged operator of the vehicle. Henry was arrested after allegedly failing field sobriety tests. She was released on a criminal summons.

DUI » Jacklyn Stees, 34, of Gordonvill­e, was charged with DUI on March 25. The charge was filed after an officer

allegedly observed a vehicle following a vehicle too closely and traveling on the shoulder on the Route 30 Bypass. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Stees, who was the alleged operator of the vehicle. Stees was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. She was released on a criminal summons.

RETAIL THEFT » Ejenavi Okolosi, 23, of West Chester, was charged with retail theft. The charge was filed after an investigat­ion into an alleged $149 theft from the Walmart on March 27. Okolosi was issued a non-traffic citation.
