Coatesville police arrest man for dealing drugs
COATESVILLE » Coatesville police have arrested a city man on a variety of drug charges following a lengthy investigation after they received a tip he was dealing drugs.
Coatesville City Vice Unit arrested Nakia Ottis Clark, 43, of the 100 block of West Second Avenue, Coatesville, on April 10 at 7 p.m. for three counts of felony possession of crackcocaine with intent to distribute, three counts of misdemeanor possession of crack-cocaine, three counts of felony degree dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, and three counts of felony second-degree criminal use of a communications facility.
Police reports from across the region: WARRANT » On Friday, April 06, around 9:45 p.m., John Hott, 43, of Coatesville came to the station and stated he thought he had a warrant out for his arrest. It was discovered Hott had and active warrant out of Montgomery County. Montgomery County Sheriffs confirmed the warrant. Montgomery County Sheriffs warrant team responded to the station and transported Hott to Montgomery County prison.
DRUG CHARGES » On April 6 at 10:11 p.m., officers conducted a pedestrian stop of two men stumbling in the 100 block of Star Alley. The two men, later identified as Robert Parker, 37, and Kenneth Torres, 30, displayed signs of extreme intoxication appearing unsteady on their feet, slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. Parker and Torres were both taken into custody for public intoxication. Search incident to arrest, both men were found to be in possession of suspected cocaine. Parker and Torres were then transported to station to be processed and held for arraignment.
NARCOTICS POSSESSION » On Sunday, April 8, at 8:19 a.m., officers were dispatched to 626 Coates St. for a medical call of cardiac arrest due to a possible heroin overdose. Police said Adrian Vergara was unconscious in a back room of the residence. Vergara was successfully revived with a dose of Narcan. Vergara was escorted outside to an awaiting ambulance where a safety pat down was performed. In a Vergara’s pants pocket was an unused bag of suspected heroin as well as a single Xanax pill, and 13 individual orange plastic containers each containing an amount of suspected crack-cocaine later field tested positive for cocaine. Police said that due to the amount of illegal narcotics found, Vergara was taken into custody and transported to Brandywine Hospital by Westwood EMS while escorted by this officer. A shortage in manpower required Vergara to be released at Brandywine Hospital. Charges were filed against Vergara for possession and paraphernalia related offenses.
DRUG ARREST » On April 10, at 12:42 a.m., police officers discovered a black man urinating on the east side of 704 East Lincoln Highway. Police identified the man as Richard Hardy, 52, of the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway, Coatesville. Hardy admitted to urinating in the walkway and was patted down for weapons. He was asked if he had any guns, bombs or drugs. He agreed to a search, and in his pockets police found a gray eyeglass case containing a metal crack pipe which was burnt on both ends and stuffed with steel wool. In the eyeglass case were several other balls of steel which were burnt and also a metal rod used to push the wool into this pipe. This pipe is commonly called a “straight” or “crack pipe” which is commonly used to ingest crack-cocaine, police said.
BENCH WARRANT » On April 9, at 9 a.m., Coatesville police responded to the 200 block of Madison Street for a suspicious condition. Contact was made with a Vernon L. Fountain, 55, of Coatesville, who was found to have an active bench warrant issued by the District Attorney’s office. He was taken into custody and transported to the station.
AUTO ACCIDENT » On March 16, 2018 at 8:37 a.m., Coatesville police responded to the area of the 800 block of East Lincoln Highway for an accident. Police said a 2006 Dodge Caravan operated by Gene Bickert, 83, of West Chester was traveling East on Lincoln Highway approaching Eighth Avenue when a collision occurred with a 1999 Mazda Protege operated by Lauren Jackson, 23, of Coatesville. There were no injuries. Both used seat belts.
HIT AND RUN » On March 16 at 9:21 a.m. Coatesville police responded to the 500 block of East Chestnut Street for a hit and run. A Kia Soul, operated by a black male juvenile, was traveling the wrong way on the 500 block of East Chestnut Street when he struck a white Nissan Sentra operated by Juanita Navarro, 46, which was parked, police said. The driver fled from the scene of the accident and was later found crashed into Palmer Park area. The juvenile operator fled along with the front-seat passenger who was also a black male juvenile, police said. Both males were apprehended a block away from the crash and taken into custody. The driver of the car sustained a head injury and was transported to Brandywine Hospital for treatment.
