Rev. Barry J. Earley of West Chester
Rev. Barry J. Earley, 69, of West Chester, passed away on April 7, 2018 after a valiant battle with renal failure and other intricate complications. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Earley and Anne Berry Earley and his eldest brother, J. Richard Earley. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Rampulla Earley, daughter, Elizabeth Earley, brother William Earley, and his canine “son,” Bennett.
Barry was born in Darby, the youngest of three sons. He was raised in Springfield (Delaware County) where he was an accomplished threesport athlete (cross country, track & field, & basketball). He graduated Springfield High School (Class of 66’), West Chester University (B.S.), and earned his Masters Degree in Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary.
Barry served as Chaplain of the Chester County Prison and the Youth Development Center in Bensalem. He performed clinical pastoral work at Delaware State Hospital and the John Gloucester House. For over 20 years, Rev. Earley served as the minister of Macalester Torresdale Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia and was a member of The Presbyterian Church (USA). After retiring, he became a member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in West Chester.
Barry enjoyed running his own handyman & painting business for almost 50 years working within the Chester County area to supplement his income as a minister. He prized his coffee breaks as an opportunity to connect with his community and was well-known for being a friendly face throughout West Chester.
Rev. Earley lived to serve others, to share God’s love, and to demonstrate the teachings of Jesus. He had a heart for people from all walks of life, loved his dogs like they were his children, and would truly do anything for a friend or someone in need. Barry’s generosity of spirit and life of service has left a profound legacy with the lives he has touched.
His Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11AM at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 426 W. Gay Street, West Chester. Vistiation will be at 10AM.
