Dr. James Stephen Holton (Jim) of West Chester
Dr. James Stephen Holton (Jim), 71, of West Chester, was called home Tuesday, April 11, 2018, at Garden Spring Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
Born in Wilkinsburg, PA, Jim was the son of the late Edward and Emily (Jones) Holton. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathryn Carpenter.
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anne Brinton Holton; children, J. Stephen and Samantha Holton, Christine and Woodford Bowe, and Kathryn and Timothy Price; grandchildren, Connor Barr, Braeden Holton, Woodford Bowe IV, Nathan Holton, Lucas Niemela, John Price, and Elizabeth Price; brother and sister-in-law, George and Mary Carpenter, sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Donald Ashworth, brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Susan Brinton; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim attended Thiel College (BA), Marshall University (MS), and Case Western University (PhD). Jim was employed for many years as a polymer chemist. He served in the Army from 1970 until 1976. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church of West Chester, the Chancel Choir, Christ Servant Ministries, Stephen Ministries, the West Goshen Lions Club, and Toastmasters.
He had a life-long commitment to hearing your good news, caring about others, and cracking bad jokes. He especially loved his time with his grandchildren.
Join us at his Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the United Methodist Church of West Chester, 129 S. High Street, West Chester, PA 19382; 610-6925190. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1 p.m. There will be a reception following in the Fiesta Center.
