Firefighte­rs battle house fire in Caln

Firefighte­rs battled a house fire in Caln Township. No one was injured.

CALN » Firefighte­rs battled a house fire in Caln Towns-ship Friday that had heavy fire showing upon arrival.

Thorndale Fire Company was dispatched at about 6:30 p.m. Friday to the unit block of Paul Nelms Drive in Caln for a report of a house fire with flames coming from the front of the house. Several people called in to report the fire.

Upon arrival, firefighte­rs reported that heavy fire was showing from the front of the home and the roof. Firefighte­rs began an exte- rior attack on the fire with several handlines and master streams to knock down the bulk of the fire. A second alarm was quickly requested for additional manpower.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigat­ion.

Thorndale was assisted by East Brandywine Fire Company, West Bradford Fire Company, the Coatesvill­e VA Fire Department, Minquas and Alert, both of the Downingtow­n Fire Department and Lionville Fire Company.

At the same time this incident was on going, firefighte­rs were dispatched to another incident at Giant with a report of a small fire in the back of the store. This incident was handled by Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company which was assisting to cover other incidents in Caln while Thorndale was on scene of the house fire. Wagontown and West Whiteland Fire Companies also assisted.
