ID THEFT » On May 1, in London Grove Township a woman from Cochranvil­le reported that she as a victim of access device fraud. She said she had been notified by her bank that a fraudulent purchased had been made on her card, police said. UNSWORN FALSIFICAT­ION » A 35 year old male from Landenberg attempted to purchase a firearm in the 1000 block of Gap-Newport Pike in London Grove Township on July 27, 2017 but was denied via the Instant Check system, police said. THEFT BY DECEPTION » A woman from Elk Township in the 8000 block on April 16 received a secret shopper form in the mail. She followed instructio­ns and cashed a money order of $996. She then purchased items from Walmart and sent through a Walmart to Walmart money transfer to an address in Texas. She was charged $8 for the transfer and then was contacted and told that the money order was fraudulent. She paid the bank $996 and $14 fee for the fraudulent money order, police said. BAD CHECK » Someone used the personal informatio­n of a Franklin Township woman to open a TD Bank checking account in the 100 block of Partridge Way in Franklin on March 26 at 2 p.m., police said. RETAIL THEFT » A 35-yearold man from Wilmington allegedly stole property from Walmart in East Marlboroug­h Township on Jan 24 at 3:29 a.m. and was found also to be in possession of controlled substance, police said.

ONE VEHICLE » Carlos Castillo, 35, of Avondale went off the highway on Gap-Newport Pike in Avondale on April 15 at 10:33 a.m. and hit a utility pole, fire hydrant and mailbox. The road was wet at the time. Castillo was not injured, police said. HIT EMBANKMENT » Daniel Sylvina, 70, of West Grove was traveling on Newark Road (896) in Upper Oxford Township on April 6 at 11:48 a.m. and traveled off the road into a grassy embankment. HE was taken to Christiana Hospital for a laceration on his head, police said. STRUCK BRIDGE ABUTMENT » Lauren Ryan, 28, of King of Prussia was traveling on Lenape-Unionville Road in Pocopson on April 26 at 8:54 p.m. and hit a bridge abutment. There was heavy damage to her car. She said she had swerved to avoid hitting a deer, police said. ONIX DRIVE » A driver at the intersecti­on of Onix Drive and Schoolhous­e Road in East Marlboroug­h made a right turn into the intersecti­on on April 26 at 6:37 p.m. and hit a car that was coming in the other direction, police said. KENNETT SQUARE NEW GARDEN » A 26-yearold Delaware man has been charged with scamming students at Kennett Middle School. Lenard E. Ruebeck, 26, of New Castle, Del., was charged with several theft offenses, following the investigat­ion into a report that he scammed students at the Kennett Middle School into making donations for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, only to deposit the donated money, totaling $123, into his own personal checking account, police said.

HIT AND RUN » Maria G. Rosales-Estrada, 28 of New Castle, Del. was arrested

and charged in connection with a hit and run accident that occurred on March 23 at 9:23 p.m., at Newark and Starr Roads, in New Garden Township. Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident and were advised that the at-fault operator had fled the scene, without exchanging informatio­n with the other operator. A descriptio­n of the striking vehicle and the operator was provided and the vehicle was located by police, approximat­ely 10 minutes later and several miles from the scene, police said. DRUG CHARGES » Jonathan K. Berger, 30, of Landenberg was arrested and

charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act following an incident that occurred on March 23 at 8:55 p.m. Police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Buttonwood Road, New Garden Township for a complaint of possible drug use occurring in one of the apartments, police said. McNeil, 33, of Avondale was arrested and charged with DUI and with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act. The incident occurred on March 24 at 8:24 p.m. in the 200 block of West Summit Avenue, in West Grove Borough. Police on patrol came upon a 2001 Pontiac parked and idling on the side of the road, in a residentia­l neighborho­od, with the radio blaring and headlights on, police said.
