Half- marathon, 5K set for June

The annual Chester County Half Marathon/ Memorial 5K is set for June 3at the Coatesville Country Club.

WEST CALN » The fourth annual Chester County Half Marathon/ Memorial 5K will be held June 3 at the Coatesville Country Club.

The Memorial 5K and the Chesco Half Marathon are each held at the Coatesville Country Club at 143 Reservoir Road in West Caln Township. The race, hosted by the Coatesville Country Club, is described as a challenging USTAF- certified course that takes participants on a scenic tour of beautiful and historic West Caln. The half- marathon begins at 7: 30 a. m. and the 5K starts at 7: 45 a. m. The course time limit is four hours for the half marathon and 1.5 hours for the 5K.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the overall top male and top female runner. Additional medals for top three male and female agegroup finishers. All finishers, including the 5K, will receive a unique, reusable finisher’s medal.

A raffle of a Spa on Saturday is part of the upcoming race event. Gritz Pools & Spas donated a PDC Congo three- person Spa. Tickets can still be purchased for $ 20 in store or by calling. The drawing will take place in the store on Saturday during its customer appreciation day. The winner doesn’t have to be present that day towin. Free lunch will be provided to customers. Therewill also be a few sales going on.

Pati Sweitzer, of Gritz Pools& Spas, said during the past few years they have becomemore involved in giving back to the community and this was another way to help locally. She said at Christmas the employees pick a family to help and West Caln Police Chief Curt Martinez helps them to find a local family to assist.

Parking for the Chester County Half Marathon & Memorial 5K participants and spectators is only available at Layton Park at 100 Waterworks Road in West Caln.

Event organizers said that while there is no onsite parking available at the Coatesville Country Club, it is with in walking distance of Layton Park. Shuttle buses, courtesy of Krapf’s, will be available beginning at 5: 45 a. m. to transport runners, volunteers, and spectators from Layton Park to the Coatesville Country Club. Buses will run at regular intervals until 7 a. m. Service will resume upon the conclusion of the 5K and continue until the conclusion of the event at 12 p. m.
