Jim’s passions in life consisted of his family, friends, music and the Philadelphia Flyers. A 1962 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School, he studied Psychology at University of Delaware. In the late 1960s, he served as a Private in the Pennsylvania and Delaware Army National Guards. Later in life he worked in construction as a consulting engineer and owned his own corporation. Once a resident of Brigantine, NJ, he moved to Downingtown, PA in 1981 where he and his beloved wife raised their three daughters.
Often called “Mr. C,” he had many friends, most of whom he knew throughout his career as a trumpet player and music teacher. A former director at Archer Epler Musketeers and soloist at both Archie and Reilly Raiders, he also worked with the Hawthorne Caballeros, taught at Crossman and CrossmanXtreme, and most recently enjoyed playing trumpet with the Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps. His many memberships include the International Trumpet Guild, the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame, the Bugler’s Hall of Fame, the Pennsylvania Drum Corps Hall of Fame and Pride of Eastern Drum Corps. He has performed with Doc Severinsen, The Kennett Symphony, as well as Matt Santry, Jon Grecia and The Phil-E Street Band. He taught marching band at CASH and is a respected music adjudicator with the Cavalcade of Bands Association. Family, friends, students and associates remember him as a genuine man full of talent, kindness and most of all, humor. Never forget his mantra: “Do good, don’t suck.”
