PennDOT slates improvement projects on Chester County roads
If it’s summer in Chester County, that can mean only one thing - roadwork.
Yes, there is plenty of it. So be prepared for detour and lots of flaggers out there. Here’s a rundown of what to be on the lookout for on county highways next week:
Route 842 Work
Marlborough and Newlin townships;
Thursday, July 26 and Friday, July 27, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Creek Road between Route 842 (Unionville Wawaset Road) and Route 52 (Lenape Road) in Pocopson Township;
Route 100 Work
to a project to improve traffic flow and safety along a 6.3-mile section of Route 100 (Pottstown Pike).
As part of this project, crews are working to improve the stretch of Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) between Garrison Drive and Route 23 (Ridge Road). The scope of work includes constructing two shoulderwidening pull-offs; installing pavement markings, rumble strips, and guide rail; and resurfacing the corridor with an opengraded surface treatment (NovaChip) to increase friction and reduce hydroplaning.
In addition, PennDOT’s contractor will improve the intersection of Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) and Route 23 (Ridge Road) by constructing a dedicated northbound left-turn lane as well as updating traffic signals.
17 miles of work
Construction is scheduled to begin next week on a project to repair and resurface 17 miles of state highway in Chester County.
Beginning Tuesday, July 24, through Thursday, July 26, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) between the Berks County line and Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) in Elverson Borough, and West Nantmeal, East Nantmeal and West Vincent townships, for milling.
