The Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce, the Lancaster Workforce Development Board and PA CareerLink are joining forces to help job seekers in western Chester County and eastern Lancaster counties.

The agencies will host a job fair on Thursday, Aug. 16 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Houston Run Community Center, 825 Houston Run Drive in Gap.

“Rather than hold separate events as we have done in the past, we decided to combine events,” said Donna Steltz, executive director of the Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce. “It makes sense, since companies in western Chester and eastern Lancaster counties are often pulling from the same pool of candidates for jobs.

“We’re all working together to help businesses fill their employment needs,” she said.

It’s not necessary for attendees to pre-register for the free event, according to Steltz. She does encourage job seekers to come to the event professionally dressed and armed with copies of their resume.

“They should also come with their minds open and be ready to explore new opportunities,” she added. “Be prepared to share your resume, and your unique skills.”

The event, according to a flyer, will give employers access to a large number of candidates, while “job seekers have the opportunity to explore new employment options.”

As of Friday afternoon, Steltz said 17 employers and organizations had committed to participating in the event, including: Shady Maple; AJ Blosenski; Dutchland; Shutters & Sand; SECCRA; Citadel; JD Eckman Inc.; Adecco Staffing; Esh Computer Inc.; Paulsonbilt; Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health;

Bill Mullen Electric; Freedom Village Brandywine; Krapf Transportation; PA CareerLink; Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce and the Lancaster Workforce Development Board.

Steltz added that businesses looking to participate in the event can sign up until Tuesday, Aug. 14. Businesses interested in participating can register by visiting www.westernchester
