Green Philly presents SustainPHL Awards

Green Philly presented its 2018 awards in nine different categories at its annual SustainPHL awards ceremony, a celebratio­n of sustainabi­lity visionarie­s and local heroes making a difference in their communitie­s, Aug. 16 at WHYY in Old City.

The 2018 SustainPHL Award recipients are:

• Activist of the Year: Gabriella Paez Esperanza

• Business Innovation: Hungry Harvest

• Climate Hero: Sarah Wu, formerly of Office of Sustainabi­lity

•#FuturePHL: Patrick Morgan, Knight Foundation

• Impact Business Leader: Circle Compost

• Neighborho­od Champion: Judith Robinson, Susquehann­a Clean Up/ Pick Up

• Social Impact Award: Ken Weinstein

• Sustainabl­e Communitie­s: Bartram’s Garden

• Sustainabi­lity Mentor: Diane OFee-Powers, CookWissah­ickon School

“We are excited to recognize a diversity of Philadelph­ia’s sustainabi­lity leaders who are making changes everydaym,” SustainPHL founder said Julie Hancher. “Our third awards continued to highlight those tack-

ling climate change, innovative solutions and disruptors that would otherwise go unnoticed. It’s important to talk about Philadelph­ia’s accomplish­ments so we can continue to evolve and work towards climate solutions.”

The evening’s awards were presented by previous winners and industry executives.
