4 Unionville golfers score par or better to top Kennett

As the reigning team state golf champion, Unionville knew it would get everyone’s best challenge every time it hit the course this season.

But if the Indians keep firing sub-par rounds, no one is going to come close.

The Ches-Mont front-runners rolled to another win, this time at Hartefeld National, to stay undefeated on the season, beating Kennett 177-208. Four of the Indians’ five scorers shot par or better on the par 36 track, as Richie Kline (34), Chris Skean (35), Will Bennink (35), Connor Bennink (36) and Roy Anderson (37) fired the scoring rounds for the Indians.

Nimah Narinesing­h-Smith led Kennett with a 38. OXFORD 222, SUN VALLEY 290 » Matthew Todd shot a 5-over round of 41, while Joseph Madden and Matt Franjesh shot rounds of 42 as the Hornets cruised to the Ches-Mont win at Wyncote Golf Club. Hadden Phillips (46) and Race Oatman (51) rounded out the scoring for Oxford, while Ryan Nealy’s 54 was the low round for the Vanguards.

CONESTOGA 184, STRATH HAVEN 203 » Michael Walz shot the surprise low round of the day, with an even-par 35 at Waynesboro Country Club, as the Pioneers picked up the Central League win. Morgan Lofland (36), Ben Lee (37), Sam Yao (38) and Kemp Bassett (38) completed the scoring for Conestoga.

DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 10, COATESVILL­E 0» Anna Miller had three goals and Mia Garber and Claudia Jaszczak had two goals each in the Whippets’ ChesMont League win. Celina Riccardo, Cianna Riccardo and Tatum Johnson had one goal each. Cianna Riccardo also had three assists, while Tatum Johnson had two. BISHOP SHANAHAN 2, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 0 » Lauren Bradley scored both goals, and Alana Pappas and Amber Bryan combined for 11 saves for Shanahan (3-2-1, 3-0-1). Rustin goalie Meg Hadfield also recorded 11 saves. KENNETT 9, SUN VALLEY 1 » The Blue Demons raced out to a 6-0 halftime lead and cruised to a ChesMont triumph. Sydney Thureen scored three times and Caroline Fiss added two goals for Kennett (2-2, 3-4 overall). Jenna Davidson, Julia Kosara and Steph Oleykowski also chipped in goals for the Demons.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 1, BISHOP SHANAHAN 0 (OT) » Bryce Pew scored in overtime off an assist from John Park to win the Ches-Mont League contest. Rustin outshot Shanahan 18-2 and had a 12-3 edge in corner kicks. Andrew Distefano had the shutout for Rustin, while Bryce Dohmson had 10 saves for Shanahan. AVON GROVE 3, OXFORD 1 » The Red Devils beat the Hornets in the ChesMont League contest. Zoller Gray scored the lone goal for Oxford in the loss. KENNETT 8, SUN VALLEY 1 » Alex Lopez scored twice and Dan Kunzig had a goal and two assists in a runaway win for the Blue Demons. Jakob Rasmussen, Evan Hartman, Luke Nall, Blake Bolhouse and Gavin Seele also found the net for Kennett in the win.

HENDERSON 0 » Sophie Brenner had 16 kills, Lauren Stokes had seven blocks, and Morgan Canino had three aces in the 25-13, 26-24, 25-14 Ches-Mont League win for the Indians (3-1, 4-3). DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 3, WEST CHESTER EAST 0 » Arianna Lehr had nine digs in a losing effort for the Vikings in the Ches-Mont League match, which the Cougars won, 25-5, 25-18, 25-16.

Aly Reardon (16 kills), Hailey Lewis (five kills), Audrey Jones (three kills, three aces, three blocks) led the way for West. Bryn Nanni added four blocks and Kaitlyn Miller had 18 assists. AVON GROVE 3, OXFORD 0 » The Red Devils topped the Hornets 25-13, 2522, 25-21. Allie White (four aces), Ariana Santos (four kills, three blocks) and Danielle Stackhouse (16 digs) led the way for Oxford. SUN VALLEY 3, KENNETT 0 » Zoe Nguyen had 10 kills, Savannah Applegate WEST CHESTER 1, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 0 (OT) » In a break from conference play, the Rams edged UDC thanks to an overtime goal by Kyle Hoops off a long cross from Brett Miller. West Chester is now 3-1-2 overall. Goaltender Will Marshall made four saves and registered the shutout for the Rams.
