Unionville golf beats GV to stay perfect

The unbeaten Unionville boys’ golf squad continues to roll over all comers. On Thursday the Indians topped Great Valley 192-230 at Chester Valley Golf Club. Will Bennink led the way with a 1-over-par 36 and Chris Skean added a 37. Unionville’s highest counted score was two strokes lower than the Patriots best. Thye Indians are 12-0 overall. WEST CHESTER EAST 190, COATESVILL­E 207 » Jack Hamilton fired a 1-over-par 36 to lead the Vikings. Cole Shew and Donovan Tate each added 38s for East. Jeremy Negron led Coatesvill­e with a 38.

OCTORARA 226, OXFORD 349 » The Hornets dropped a match to their former division rivals. Hunter King led all scorers in the 18-hole clash with a 75 for the Braves. Joseph Madden topped Oxford with an 85.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 193, GLEN MILLS 272 » The Knights improved to 6-2 overall with a non-league win over Glen Mills. Ryan D’Ariano (35), Eric Miler (37) and Matt Feeney (39) were the leaders for Rustin.

» Rustin’s Emma Nelson notched the 1,000th kill of her career but it wasn’t enough as the Indians got the win 2325, 25-19, 25-20, 27-25. Sophie Brenner had 15 kills, Elizabeth Sauerbaum added 29 assists and Taylor Lindsay chipped in 15 digs for Unionville. Nelson finished with 22 kills for Rustin. DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 3, WEST CHESTER

SUN VALLEY 5, OXFORD 2 » The Vanguards notched their first win of the season over the Hornets. Mary Combs won in straight sets at 3rd singles and the team of Hannah Bartlett and Gina Pilaitis prevailed in a doubled match that went three sets for Oxford.

GREAT VALLEY 5, AVON GROVE 2 » On Senior Day, the Patriots ekked out close win over the Devils as there were four three-set matches. At No. 2 singles, Kate Corrigan outlasted Anny Condliffe 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-3). In doubles, the teqam of Nandini Bhatt and Sapna Cholski aldo prevailed in three sets for Great Valley. DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 7, KENNETT 0 » the Whippets won all seven matches in straight sets, including singles wins by Jordan Bradley, Holly Koons and Sophia Koons. The top doubles team of Divya Kalmady and Lily Shi topped Maddie Fowler and Emma Schmidt 6-2, 6-1.

MALVERN PREP 19, EPISCOPAL 39 » The Friars had five of the top seven finishers in Inter-Ac action. Zach Brill (17:02) finished first and teammates Collin Hess and Drew Brill followed for Malvern.

Water Polo

MALVERN PREP 12, FRIENDS CENTRAL 5 » the Friars boasted eight different scorers and goaltender Jake Caufield made 16 saves to lead Malvern. Jack Cassidy had three goals, five assists and six steals. Dan Ward and Erik Yablonski each had two goals for the Friars.

College Cross Country

PURNELL, JOHNSON NAMED CIAA RUNERS OF THE WEEK » Lincoln cross country runners Nazirah Purnell and Kyuande Johnson have been named the Central Intercolle­giate Athletic Associatio­n women’s and men’s cross country runners of the Week for their performanc­es at the Delaware Invitation­al meet last Saturday. In earning runner of the week honors for the second time this season, Purnell ran the fastest time ever by a Lincoln athlete on the White Clay Creek State Park 6,000-meter course, recording a time of 27:30.7, establishi­ng a new school record for the course. Johnson was the Lions top runner for the third consecutiv­e week, finishing 16th overall with a time of 30:17.0 for the 8,000-meter White Clay Creek course. He was the second non-Division I runner to cross the finish line.
