Sign grabber cited by police

WEST GOSHEN » A new Golf Club Apartments resident did what many others wanted to do.

On June 9, Brandon Morgan attempted to tear down a large sign, which displayed a racial slur, at the West Chester Pike apartment complex.

The comment on a series of banners facing West Chester Pike has gone viral on social media. As of Monday, a sign hung next to an American flag and read “WE DISCRIMINATE!!”

Morgan said he lives with a 10-year-old biracial girl and didn’t want to have to answer questions about the sign.

Morgan was cited for harassment and fined $460, including costs. He spent about an hour in handcuffs and was then released.

The citation, which was mailed, reads that Morgan threatened another person and used obscene language.

“It took somebody to take a stand,” Morgan said. “I’m trying to free all the black people.

“You’re not going to put signs up like that.”

Morgan said the complex only allows “approved” signs and the sign was in violation.

“I fell for the bait,” Morgan said about the sign poster. “He threw the big worm out. “He got his little rush.” Someone at the door of the apartment where the sign was posted refused to talk to a reporter. Golf Club Apartments did not return two phone calls and West Goshen Police did not respond to an interview request by press time.
