John Elwood Barrage of Honey Brook
John Elwood “Hunkey” Barrage, 81 years, of Honey Brook, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 30, 1937 in Downingtown. John was the son of the late Samuel and Isabelle (Griffith) Barrage. He was the husband to Sandra (Roberts) Barrage, with whom they shared 57 years of marriage.
John worked at Lukens Steel Company as a truck driver, retiring in 2000 with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family in the mountains, collecting scrap metal and just keeping busy.
He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by a grandmother Rachel, grandson Matthew J. Hoover, brothers Russell and Robert, Sisters Pasty, Edna, and Gladys, Stepmother Edna, and step sister Jenny.
Surviving in addition to his wife are John’s four daughters, Deborah (JR) Jury of Gap, Marcella (Rachel) Barrage of Bowmansville, Patricia (William) Bickert of Honey Brook, and Joan Mattia of Quarryville. There are 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings are Deanna, Harry, Dixie, and George, step sisters, Alice, Mary Ann, Holly and Janet and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11 AM from The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa. Interment will follow at the Honey Brook Methodist Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of John to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, Pa. 17603.
