McCook, O’Sullivan go 1-2 for D-East at PAC golf
Downingtown East went onetwo in the Pioneer Athletic Conference’s individual girls golf tournament at Gilbertsville G.C. on Thursday, heading the list of 11 golfers who’ve qualified for the District 1 tournament.
Liddie McCook led the way with a 73 to win the title, her second PAC crown (2016) to go with two runner-up finishes (2015, 2017), followed by a 79 from freshman Ava O’Sullivan.
The top 11 finishers qualified for the District 1 Championships, including Downingtown West senior Lily Byrne (83, fourth place), Downingtown East junior Anisha Sonti (90, sixth place), and Downingtown West sophomore Rosie Byrne (94, seventh place).
Great Valley’s Mae Sharaf (97) was 12th, and is an alternate for districts.

AVON GROVE 208, COATESVILLE 233 » Bailey Smith and David Turnbull each broke 40 to lead the Devils past the host Raiders at Coatesville Country Club. Ryan Jackson paced Coatesville with a 43.
UNIONVILLE 194, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 206 » The Indians unblemished record is still in place after topping the Knights. Connor Bennick carded a 36 and Richie Klin and Roy Anderson followed with 39s for Unionville. Ryan D’Ariano was the individual medalist (35) for Rustin.

225 » The Warriors topped both Downingtown schools in a Ches-Monk tri-match at Radley Run Country Club. Jack Strame paced Henderson with a 40 to share medalist honors with East’s Matt Walsh. Thomas Harper led the Whippets with a 43.

DOWNINGTOWN WEST 0 » In a cross-borough girls’ volleyball battle, East topped West in a key Ches-Mont contest. The unbeaten Cougars registered 33 kills en route to a 29-27, 25-18, 25-16 triumph. Victoria Rudolph led the way with nine kills and four blocks for East (80, 12-0 overall). Sophie Kollhoff (four kills), Jill Curran (nine digs, three blocks) and Jess Angeline (31 assists) also had productive outings for the Cougars. Aly Reardon and Audrey Jones had 11 and nine kills, respectively, for the Whippets.

SUN VALLEY 0 » Emma Nelson had 16 kills to power the Knights past the Vanguards in Ches-Mont action. Emily Supplee (12 kills), Emma Klanica (eight kills) and Dani Emrich (12 digs, threee aces) also contibuted for Rustin.

» The Indians prevailed 2522, 25-12, 15-15 over the Red Devils. Sophie Brenner (15 kills) and Elizabeth Saurbaum (14 assists, three aces) helped Unionville improve to 5-2 in the Ches-Mont (7-6 overall).
BISHOP SHANAHAN 3, OXFORD 0 » The Eagles improved to 7-0 in league play and 8-0 overall with a 258, 25-10, 25-13 win over the Hornets. Mia Capporelli registered seven aces and Alyssa Wright chipped in six kills for Shanahan. Emily Griffin led Oxford with five kills.
GREAT VALLEY 3, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 1 » The Patriots posted scores of 2520, 24-26, 25-21 and 25-16. Great Valley had strong play offensively by Lindsay Gal and Sarah Karwoski, each with 12 kills. Defensively, the Patriots were led by Alana Cunningham and Nicole Karwoski.

CONESTOGA 9, RIDLEY 0 » The host Pioneers had a 35-0 edge in shots on goal and cruised to the Central League win. Charlotte de Vries scored five times and Caroline Wisch tallied her first two goal for ’Stoga. Maddy Todd and Katie Clemson split duties in goal and shared the shutout.
GREAT VALLEY 5, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 0 » Tessa Liberatoscoli registered a first hakf hat trick as the Patriots blanked the Warriors. Mackenzie Hilditch and Aiden Drabick also scored for Great Valley (50, 8-2 overall).

The Quakers overall record dropped to 2-3 after a close setback to Shipley. Kadiatou Syl1a notched the lone goal and Sload Isen made a dozen saves for Westtown.

EAST 0 » Emma Schwarz and Vivian Chiomento each scored goals to lead the Blue Demons past the Vikings. Schwarz and Steph Oleykowski each had an assist, and Kennett goalie Claire Borman recorded six saves for the Blue Demons (5-5, 3-3). Charlotte Fay led the shutout on the defensive end for Kennett. East goalkeeper Carlee Fulton had six saves.
BISHOP SHANAHAN 5, OXFORD 1 » The Eagles celebrated Senior Night with a win, getting a hat trick from Bella D’Alessandro. Lauren Bradley (one goal, one assist), Angelina Luongo (one goal) and Tori Morris (two assists) also contributed offesnively for Shanahan. Alana Pappas (playing in the field) had one defensive save for the Eagles, and Pappas and Amber Bryan combined for six Shanahan saves in the net. The Hornets got a goal in the second half off a free hit from Reese Canaday, and Alyssa Beauregard (assist) and Sydney Campbell (goal) ran it down to finish the play. Julia Gunzel and Brooke Rush were strong in the midfield for Oxford.
