Wedding set for Veterans Day
WEST CHESTER >> The winners of the Veterans Day Wedding Giveaway, Emily Beers and Tyler Thiel of Downingtown, continue to plan their big day, Sunday, Nov. 11, with the help of several area businesses as part of a contest that began earlier this year.
Sponsored by West Chester’s American Helicopter Museum and Education Center (AHMEC) and John Serock Catering, the prize of a free five-hour ceremony and reception for 100 guests to be held at the museum includes contributions from Blue Dog Printing & Design, Schaffer Sound, Matlack Florist, Baiada Photography, Sagets Formal Wear, Chaddsford Winery, Choice Party Linens, Master’s Baker and Locust Lane Brewery.
“The progress with the wedding is great,” said Beers. “I am happy to say that the bridesmaids in my wedding who are active duty are all able to make it to the actual day. Right now, the last minute touches are to finalize the guest list, type up introductions, time the big day and have the rehearsal dinner.”
Beers and Thiel met at a local gym in 2015. By 2016 their friendship blossomed into more, so they moved in together. Thiel started planning to propose marriage in March of this year, and in April he did.
“We took the dog for a walk near an elementary school,” Thiel explained. “I just remember getting down on one knee and the rest is a blur. I planned for family and friends to be (at our house) afterward (to celebrate).”
The couple has connected with all of the contributing vendors to finalize the wedding. The bridal party has completed their suit fittings and made their dress choices. Beers and Thiel have performed a walk-through of AHMEC with their families to plan the decorations; they have chosen navy blue, maroon and gold for their colors.
“We’re very happy that we can help make this happen for Emily and Tyler,” stated Sarah Sands, AHMEC’s Executive Director. “It’s important to us to give back to our military personnel who have given so much for us. We also appreciate our co-sponsor, John Serock Catering, and all of the vendors who are generously contributing to make this exciting, beautiful day
