Police probe robberies involving LetGo app
Police are warning residents after a series of robberies have occurred in the township involving the use of the LetGo app.
Lower Pottsgrove Township Police are investigating a series of strong-arm robberies involving victims who have been using the Letgo app to sell personal items.
Since Sept. 2, the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department has received seven calls for robberies involving victims using the app. The suspects are using the app to find their victims. They are arranging to meet up with the seller and then robbing the seller of their merchandise, police said.
The locations of the robberies have been in the parking lot of The Coventry Christian School, Landis Market, and Walnut Ridge Estates Community.
“The Lower Pottsgrove Police Department wants to warn anyone selling items online to use caution. It is recommended that the sales be conducted at a public location. It should be done during normal business hours when there are people frequenting the business. The seller should always be the one dictating the time and location of the sale. Sellers should always research the buyer’s profile,” read a release from police.
Police are urging residents to contact local police before selling merchandise if something seems unusual or you have any questions about the sale.
Additionally, safe internet exchange locations are available throughout the area. Upper Providence Police, Amity Township and Limerick Township Police have available spots located near the police departments where internet exchanges can be made safely.
The robberies are still under investigation.
Anyone with any information on the robberies is asked to contact Officer James McCue with Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department at 610-3261508 or jmccue@lowerpottsgrove.org.
