Pottstown Dance Theatre Rep Ensemble performs ‘The Nutcracker’

he Pottstown Dance Theatre once again brings back the family beloved classic “The Nutcracker” to the Hill School in December. On Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and on Dec. 2 at 3 p.m., profession­al and student dancers will grace the stage at the Center for the Arts located at Beech and Sheridan Streets in Pottstown. This full production with brand new costumes, a brand new backdrop, and various lighting effects will tell the famous tale of Clara, her Nutcracker, and the Mouse King. She will travel to the Land of Sweets where she will be greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and dancers from many lands. This is a ballet the entire family will love!

The performanc­e is choreograp­hed by Artistic Director and Internatio­nal Dance Artist Michelle Jones Wurtz with assistance from Diane Alex-Brody and Megan Schultz. Wurtz has performed, taught and choreograp­hed throughout Europe and is a dance professor at Eastern University. Alex-Brody is a long time faculty member of Pottstown Dance Theatre and Schultz is an alumnus of the school and holds a dance degree from Eastern University. Both will perform various solo roles in the production. Lizzie Rasmussen and Ashley Reicher will share the coveted roles of Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy while Sofia Bischof will portray the Nutcracker and Brianna Shank will dance the part of the Mouse King. Students from the school complete the full cast.
