Trump wants respect then he should try giving respect
echoed, “You have to show respect to the White House, to the presidency certainly, to the president,” Conway said.
Hold up. Respect remains a two-way street and for some human to think that a man or woman who will end up dead as a doorknob like the rest of us, deserves more respect than any other human on Planet Earth, well, not happening.
Trump made a point to follow up with more criticisms aimed at Acosta then directed snarky remarks toward April Ryan, a veteran American Urban Radio Networks reporter. Master Trump referenced Ryan as a “loser” who “doesn’t know what the hell she is doing.”
Trump, who suspended the press pass of Costa, alleging that the CNN veteran manhandled a female intern, said he did not know how long the ban would last then noted “but it could be others also.”
Ryan tweeted “I love this country and have the most respect for the Office of the President. I will continue to ask the questions that affect America, all of America.”
Notice Ryan referenced the “Office of the President” and not necessarily Trump who in his attempt to silence and control a free press, resembles his Russian comrade President Vladimir Putin. Trump appeared unhinged during his post mid-term election onslaught that delivered Democrats control of the House of Representatives.
Trump sounds dictatorial, enforcing an edict that news reporters smooch either his derriere or boot or face repercussions, including being kicked away from performing their jobs. The presidential mastermind continues these antics knowing that his behavior gives satisfaction to his adoring base.
Any direct-hit criticism draws a Trump response of “fake news.” Recorded losses such as the Democrats slowly developing mid-term Blue Wave, receives a Trump assertion that “It was a big day .... incredible day. Last night the Republican Party defied history to expand our Senate majority while significantly beating expectations in the House ..... I thought it was very close to a complete victory,” Trump explained.
Trump pressed the threshold for lying in the face of defeat as Democrats regained the House while flipping approximately 35 Congressional seats. Trump should understand that perpetual liars lose respect.
Still, the President demands respect for himself and his office while delivering insults to Hispanic-heritage people, African Americans, women and anyone else willing to challenge his anger and press past the insults. Trump’s bully behavior worked on former 2016 Republican presidential rivals Mitt Romney, Ted Cruz and even former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie but some reporters never waiver.
Trump attempts to discount a U.S. constitutional amendment established during the incubation of this democracy. The First Amendment explains, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
In other words, the press, which most expect to deliver accurate accounts, serves as the lifeblood for U.S. democracy. Any attempts made for extermination of the press or restrictions, including removing people who President Trump may not like, frays the fabric of our country.
Mind you, President Trump hurls insults, President Trump name calls, President Trump voices derisive critiques of professional reporters and media who perform their duties. If President Trump refuses to act respectfully then he should expect rebuttal, perhaps not from many media members as his iron hand scares off critics.
However, many U.S. citizens will stand for and accept only a measurable amount of being kicked in the gut or sucker punched before they deliver retaliation and revolution.
Trump may minimize his impact on society but his antics, his bigotry and his intolerance has awakened U.S. grown male Caucasian sleeper cell soldiers who will kill in the name of nationalism, racism and white supremacy.
As violence and intolerance ratchets upward, Trump should understand that if he shows no respect then he will receive no respect.
