Stephen C. Hiscox
Stephen C. Hiscox, born March 23, 1959, passed away on November 20, 2018 at Hahneman University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Steve died peacefully surrounded with the love of his family and friends after a heroic battle with cancer.
Steve is survived by his spouse Tammy (née Wilce) of 30 years, his parents Harry and Beverly Hiscox, brothers David (Jill) and Richard (Bonnie), sisters Susan and Carol, motherin-law Louise Thomas and step-father-in-law Tom Thomas, as well as 10 nieces and nephews.
Steve graduated from Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre, Pa in 1977; he was a National Merit Scholar Finalist, played trombone in the band and orchestra, sang in the chorus, and captained the district champion cross country team. He received his B.A. from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT in 1981 where he was made a member of Phi Beta Kappa by action of Gamma of Connecticut at Wesleyan University on December 10, 1980 in recognition of high attainments in liberal scholarship. He was also a member of Psi U fraternity.
Steve subsequently attended graduate school at The University of Pennsylvania School of Arts & Science on a teaching fellowship in the Department of Music from 1982-1985.
Steve then pursued his passion in automobiles and attended Automotive Training Center in Exton, PA graduating in November, 1987. Steve taught at ATC from 19881991 when he became President/ CEO of the school which grew dramatically during his tenure and necessitated opening a second branch campus in Warminster, PA in 2005. Steve was still active as President/CEO at the time of his passing.
Steve was a modernday renaissance man with a passion for music, travel, automobiles, boats, languages, movies, and teaching. His friends and family recall his hearty laugh, how he moved at his own pace, “Stevie time,” and his insistence on living life to its fullest. He and his wife Tammy were always together and crammed a solid 60 years into their 30 years of marriage.
Friends are invited to pay their final respects at Brick Lane Church, 52 South Brick Lane, Elverson, PA on December 8, 2018 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
