Mavis Allen Dobson, 88, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2018 at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, Florida after a brief illness.

Mavis was born on February 21, 1930 in Four Oaks, North Carolina to the late Jasper Joel Allen and Florence Mae Allen. She graduated from Four Oaks High School in 1948 and Watts School of Nursing in Durham, NC in 1952. Mavis was married to the late Ernest Dobson in 1954. They were the parents of two sons, Ernest, Jr. “Chip” and Andrew. Mavis lived in southeaste­rn Pennsylvan­ia from the mid1950’s until 2015 when she moved to Florida.

She worked as a Registered Nurse and was active in volunteer work. Mavis was an avid golfer and a member of Radley Run Country Club.

Mavis was preceded in death by her husband in 1982 and her son, Andy, in 2014. She was also predecease­d by her sisters Christine, Dot, and Elgie and brothers Newitt, Ray, and Leroy. Mavis is survived by her son Chip (Rhonda); grandchild­ren Lauren Todd (Mark), Jacqueline Dobson, Caitlin Dobson and Eric Dobson; great grandson Mark Andrew Todd; sister Norma Jackson; brothers in law Billy Wiggs and Mac Dobson (Elsa); sister in law Dorothy Allen and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Friday December 14, 2018 at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, 4020 Concord Road, Aston, PA. An internment ceremony for the family will be at Edgewood Memorial Park in Glen Mills. Flowers may be sent to Mt. Hope for the service.
