Volunteers making a better life for many in county
A retired elderly couple living on a limited income was deeply worried about the old windows in their home. The lights would flicker on and off due to an unstable electric box. All of these problems lent to a high electric and heating bill.
After recovering from a broken hip caused by a fall, the homeowner contacted Good Neighbors Home Repair to ask for assistance. Over the course of the summer, volunteer groups, many of whom were teenagers, worked alongside Good Neighbors’ project managers to replace eight windows, update the electric box
and replace the roof!
Another elderly homeowner, who devotes her time to caring for her disabled son, was in desperate need of a new boiler, but her limited income prevented her from replacing it. After contacting Good Neighbors, volunteers were able to install a new boiler and replace her roof, which she had no idea had become damaged and unsafe.
Volunteers give of their time and talents and are an important part of getting these families and so many more back to living in warm and safe homes.
