Dallas Lynn Genter of Downingtow­n

On Wednesday January 9, 2019, Dallas Lynn (Shumaker) Genter of Downingtow­n, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend passed away at the age of 37 from metastatic breast cancer while at home with her family.

Dallas was born on October 8, 1981 in West Chester to Laurence and Patricia (Sweet) Shumaker. She was a 2000 graduate from Great Valley High School and went on to study Political Science at Eastern University. On March 12, 2012 she married John R. Genter and together they have two children, John “Jack” Laurence, and Everly Sweet, all three of whom she loved with her whole heart.

She loved spending time with her family exploring, trying new restaurant­s, camping, reading stories, singing songs, playing superheroe­s and princesses and even assembling the occasional Lego set. She was a traveler — a few of her favorite destinatio­ns were Colorado, New Orleans and Asheville.

Dallas was generous with her time, energy and love and quick to make you feel like you were best friends. She volunteere­d with City Year Philadelph­ia after high school, supporting students in high-need areas. Most recently she hosted Eat, Drink, Give where she raised thousands for Stand Up to Cancer, an organizati­on dedicated to finding cures for cancer.

Dallas was a treasured member of Covenant Presbyteri­an Church in Malvern where she also worked as Church Administra­tor for the past four years. In addition to this, she took great pride in her work as a Senior Director and advocate for health protective laws with Beautycoun­ter.

Dallas is not only survived by John, Jack and Everly, but by her parents, Larry and Patt Shumaker; brothers Mike (Amy); Matt (Lisa); Cale (Amy) and Brooke (Laura) and many adored nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her father-in-law, John M. Genter (Coeli); motherin-law, Mary Beth Genter; sister-in-law Emily Wyatt (Gary) and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019 at Covenant Presbyteri­an Church, 400 Lancaster Avenue in Malvern at noon, with visitation prior starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in the children’s names C/O Emily Wyatt to: 108 E. Miner Street, West Chester, PA, 19382.
