Din­ni­man an­nounces $150,000 for tech­ni­cal ca­reer pro­grams

WEST CH­ESTER >> State Se­na­tor Andy Din­ni­man an­nounced to­day that the Ch­ester County Work­force Devel­op­ment Board will re­ceive $150,000 in state fund­ing for pro­grams to pre­pare stu­dents for in-de­mand tech­ni­cal ca­reers.

“En­gag­ing stu­dents early on and en­cour­ag­ing them to chan­nel their tal­ents, in­ter­ests, and in­spi­ra­tions ex­plor­ing and pre­par­ing for po­ten­tial ca­reers is key to putting them on the right track for a life­time of suc­cess, pros­per­ity and pro­fes­sional growth,” Din­ni­man, who serves mi­nor­ity chair of the Se­nate Ed­u­ca­tion Com­mit­tee, said. “These funds and pro­grams can go a long way in that con­nect­ing stu­dents with tech­ni­cal ca­reers.”

The fund­ing, which comes through the Penn­syl­va­nia Depart­ment of La­bor and In­dus­try’s Busi­ness Ed­u­ca­tion Part­ner­ship Pro­gram, will be used to drive pro­grams that con­nect stu­dents in lo­cal school dis­tricts, col­leges, and the Ch­ester County In­ter­me­di­ate Unit with em­ploy­ers and re­gional cham­bers of com­merce.

These in­no­va­tive and in­spir­ing ac­tiv­i­ties, work­shops, and pro­grams aim to in­crease ca­reer aware­ness and readi­ness of in­de­mand tech­ni­cal ca­reer path­ways to 1,200 Ch­ester County stu­dents.
