Walter V. Lent, 82

Walter V. Lent, 82, formerly of Berwyn, died on January 11, 2019 at the Southeaste­rn Veterans Center in Spring City. Born in Zanesville, Ohio, he was the son of Norval Lent and Catherine Leddy; brother of John Raymond (Carolyn) Lent, Vincent (June) Lent and the late Bill (Frances) Lent. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Joyce Gemberling.

Walt attended Bishop Rosencrans High School in Zanesville. At age 19, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed at the Nike Missile Site in Paoli in 1956. He served for 3 years, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

He was an employee of Mack Oil Co. in Berwyn where he worked for over 20 years. He also worked at several environmen­tal companies and was a gas station inspector for the state of Pennsylvan­ia, before retiring in 2000.

Walt was a member of the Easttown Auxiliary Police Department and the Berwyn Fire Company where he volunteere­d for many years. He enjoyed going to the racetrack, gardening, fixing anything that was broken and spending time with family.

He is survived by his daughters, Traci Lent of Berwyn and Leslie (Gary) Gamma of Malvern; grandchild­ren Ryan, Tara, Tyler and Aidan and greatgrand­children Trey, Trent, Ella and Remi.

A Celebratio­n of Life Open House will be held on his 83rd birthday, February 9, 2019 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm at 802 Forest Lane, Malvern. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Macular Degenerati­on Foundation.
