Detective David Maurer and Officer Michael Cotter were promoted last week to the rank of sergeant.
WEST GOSHEN >> West Goshen Detective David Maurer and Officer Michael Cotter were promoted last week to the rank of Sergeant. They were sworn in by District Justice William Kraut. Also at the ceremony, two new West Goshen police officers were hired by the department- Officer Laura Ashe and Officer Stephen Hiro.
West Goshen’s patrol division has four platoons of officers. Each platoon is comprised of a sergeant and three officers. The sergeant has the primary responsibility to ensure that all calls from the citizens are addressed as quickly as practical by the officers, and that the highest quality of service has been delivered in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
Patrol officers respond to every call received from a citizen, and those calls range from a lost dog to a homicide, and everything in between. They place their lives before those they serve and will do whatever is needed to ensure the safety of every citizen.
West Goshen Police Department is a full-service police agency that handles approximately 25,000 calls a year for service. The agency consists of 30 sworn officers, two of whom have honorably served in the United States Marine Corp, one who served in the United States Army and one is currently serving in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as a Captain.
