Klein buses headed for Atlanta for Super Bowl
Will provide bus services for team guests
DOUGLASSVILLE >> Klein Transportation is about to be part of Super Bowl LIII. The company will be sending four of its deluxe motorcoaches to Atlanta, to provide transportation for special guests of each team during Super Bowl weekend.
Klein is working with several industry partners as part of a 50 motorcoach coalition to provide the service for the guests.
“It is our understanding that we will be transporting family, friends and media during the event,” said Alison Sherman, vice president of finance, Klein Transportation. “We will be given exact details once we arrive and must follow strict confidentiality during the event to respect the privacy of the passengers.”
The buses are scheduled to leave Klein’s Douglassville facility on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and will arrive in Atlanta by 4 p.m. on Jan. 31. The exact departure time was still being tweaked by the drivers on Tuesday afternoon.
The buses will return to Douglassville Feb. 5 or Feb. 6, Sherman added, depending on their completion time after the Super Bowl.
Sherman added that the com-
pany did not expect the forecast of snow and subsequent Polar Vortex freeze to have an impact on the planned departure.
“They aren’t leaving too early on Wednesday, and they will essentially be driving out of it,” Sherman said. “I sent an email to them to
keep them up to speed, and it looks like it’s going to be in the low 60s in Atlanta.”
Sherman said the company chose the most senior full-time drivers for the assignment. According to Sherman, the drivers will be working “a lot, every day they are there.”
In addition to shuttling the guests back and forth to the game, they will also be taking them to areas of interest while the players are
at practices.
She said that she didn’t know whether the drivers would have a chance to see the game.
“While the game is going on — they won’t be shuttling people. But they may need to stay with the coaches, just in case someone wants to leave the game early,” she added.
Trobec’s Bus Service Inc. in St. Stephen, Minn. has been contracted to provide
the services, according to Sherman, adding that Trobec’s contacted Klein in June to confirm the company’s availability.
“Klein Transportation is a member of many of the same industry organizations with Trobec’s Bus,” she said.
This is the first year Klein Transportation has participated in the Super Bowl. The company was slated to participate at last year’s
game in Minnesota, but Sherman said fewer buses were needed last year.
Klein Transportation has built a network with other motorcoach companies through memberships in organizations including the American Bus Association, United Motorcoach Association, Pennsylvania Bus Association, Greater New Jersey Motorcoach Association, Motorcoach Partners with Integrity and Spader
Business Management.
Klein Transportation, also known as Klein’s Bus Service Inc. has been family owned and operated for more than 60 years. Klein has about 80 employees from across the tri-county area. For more visit www. kleintransportation.com.
