Chamber’s home show puts focus on spring
Western Chester County Chamber hosting event Feb. 23
COATESVILLE >> Predictions of another messy winter weather system this week have many area residents thinking about spring.
For homeowners — those thoughts invariably turn to spring home projects.
Just in time — the Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Chester County Home Show on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Technical College High School Brandywine Campus, 443 Boot Road, Downingtown. “The Home Show gives visitors a chance to meet face to face with local contractors to discover how their services might help transform their homes,” said Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Donna Steltz, adding that the chamber anticipates between 40 and 50 exhibitors.
“These are leading local experts,” Steltz said, that can help homeowners solidify their ideas and move their projects forward.
Among the exhibitors this year are contractors, electricians, plumbers, home supplies providers and landscapers, as well as real estate, home insurance and financial services professionals, according to Steltz.
The location is a new one for the three-year-old event. Steltz said long-time chamber member Technical College High School offered to host the event this year.
“The technical high school has invited the students and their families to attend the show. We’re excited for a much larger crowd,” Steltz said. “Another positive feature of holding it at the school is the attendees and their families can learn more about the school and options for their kids to expand their schooling into the programs at the school.”
Tours of the school will be offered during the Home Show.
The location isn’t the only new thing for this year’s Chester County Home Show. The event has also been moved up by about a month — it had previously been held in late-March.
“We found the end of February time frame works better for the vendors,” Steltz explained. “In winter, people are considering what projects they want to start. By end of March, the vendors are already out working, and have a lot of project in the works.”
The event has also been
moved to a Saturday, rather than a weeknight, which Steltz said will attract additional visitors. Also new this year is the addition of two food trucks.
Steltz had previously said the chamber initially launched the Home Show as a way to showcase its membership and to give members a chance to network with each other and
