One person killed in crash on Route 41

LONDONDERRY TOWNSHIP >> One person was killed in a violent two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning on Route 41 near Faggs Manor Road in Londonderry Township.

According to state police at the Avondale barracks, the accident occurred at 4:17 a.m. An SUV, traveling southbound on Route 41, crossed over into the northbound lane of travel, colliding with a tractortrailer head-on. The sole occupant of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Route 41 was closed in both directions between Route 926 and Limestone Road for most of the morning. The victim has not been identified pending results of the investigation.
