Free fitness class slated Saturday in West Chester

WEST CHESTER >> On Saturday, May 18, from 12-3 p.m. in Everhart Par in West Chester, the Mayor’s Opioid Action Task Force will host Flex for Recovery.

The event will feature a free group fitness class led by The Phoenix, food vendors, live music from the fabulous Sin Brothers, and resource tables from local recovery centers.

The free fitness class will run from 1-2 p.m. and include a blend of exercises including yoga and cardiovasc­ular routines. All those under 18 may participat­e with parental consent.

All participan­ts must be 48 hours substance free at the start of the event. From its inception, members of The Mayor’s Opioid Action Task Force have had a goal to create events like Flex for Recovery, which welcome everyone to come together whether or not you are in recovery.

The following recovery centers and support groups will have informatio­nal tables set up throughout the event and will be on hand to speak with you and answer any questions you may have: The Phoenix, Center for Families, Behavioral Wellness and Recovery, Chester County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services, Healthy Habitats, The Mayor’s Opioid Action Task Force, West Chester University Alcohol and Drug Counseling, and Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems.

Bring a reusable water bottle. There will be water stations available for refills. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled.
