Woman stabbed near her home

COATESVILL­E >> Police are looking for a man who stabbed an elderly Coatesvill­e woman as she got out of her car after arriving home.

On July 16, at 9:53 p.m., Coatesvill­e Police investigat­ed a stabbing that occurred in the unit block of South Third Avenue. Police said the man stabbed a 64 – year-old female while she was getting out of her car after arriving home.

The woman sustained a stab wound to her back as well as a severe head injury. She is in stable condition at this time, recovering at a nearby hospital.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a light blue shirt, dark jeans, and a black

hat. Police are also seeking a motive. Anyone with any informatio­n is asked to contact Coatesvill­e Police Department at 610-384-2300.

Warrant arrest

On Friday, July 5, at 9:47 p.m., Coatesvill­e Police observed a man walking in the area of North Seventh Avenue and East Chestnut Street. The man was identified as Spartacus Lewis III of the 500 block of Coates Street, who was known to have an active criminal warrant for his arrest. Police conducted a pedestrian stop of Lewis on North Seventh Avenue where he was taken into custody without incident. Lewis was taken to the police station where he was held for arraignmen­t and released on an unsecured bail.

Drug charges

On Monday, July 8, at 10:59 p.m., Coatesvill­e Police observed a man to the rear of a property hunched over. Contact was made with the man, who was

later identified as James Vann. Vann of the 100 block of East Chestnut Street in Coatesvill­e threw two items over a fence and into a heavily overgrown yard. One of the items was recovered, which was found to be a napkin wrapped around illegal narcotics. Vann was taken into custody without incident. Vann was transporte­d back to the station where he was processed and housed for arraignmen­t.

Warrant arrest

On Tuesday, July 9, at 2:41 a.m., Coatesvill­e Police observed Anthony Shelton of the 800 block of East Diamond Street in Coatesvill­e, walking in the area of East Diamond Street and North Seventh Avenue. Shelton was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. Police conducted a pedestrian stop of Shelton and he was taken into custody without incident. Shelton was transporte­d to the station where he was held for constable pick up.

Drug charges

On July 8, officers were investigat­ing an unauthoriz­ed use of a motor vehicle reported at the location of 640 East Chestnut Street.

The man was later identified as Dshan Jones, 25, of Modena. While checking the area Jones was located on foot in the area of South Sixth Avenue and Belmont Street where he was stopped by officers. Jones was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug parapherna­lia and was taken into custody and transporte­d to station to be held for arraignmen­t.

Warrant arrest

On Wednesday, July 10, at 1:01 a.m., Coatesvill­e Police observed a vehicle with a malfunctio­ning brake light. Police conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle on Pearl Alley at Belmont Street. The driver, identified as Dylan F. Loza of the 500 block of East Lincoln Highway, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. Loza was taken into custody and transporte­d back to the station where he was later released to Pennsylvan­ia State Troopers who transporte­d him to the Chester County Prison for arraignmen­t.

Aggravated assault

On Saturday, July 13, at 7:21 p.m., City of Coatesvill­e Police Department partnered with officers

from the Chester County Municipal Drug Task Force observed Kenneth Cole of the 200 block of Andrew Drive in Coatesvill­e, operating a black GMC Yukon SUV in the area of South Fifth Avenue. Kenneth Cole was known to the department to have an active felony aggravated assault arrest warrant. The victim of the aggravated assault was a juvenile female, whose informatio­n is being withheld by police. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the Yukon SUV in the unit block of South Eighth Avenue. Cole was subsequent­ly taken into custody at that time. Cole was transporte­d to the Coatesvill­e Police Station where he was held pending his arraignmen­t. Cole was arraigned in front of Chester County District Judge Tartaglia and remanded to Chester County Prison on $150,000 cash bail.

Criminal mischief

On Tuesday July, 15 at 6:46 a.m., Coatesvill­e Police responded to the 700 block Merchant Street for a criminal mischief report. A victim reported having fur low-profile tires damaged sometime overnight. Estimated loss is $400.
