Police probe case of elder abuse

Video of incident was shared on social media

EAST GOSHEN >> A video shared recently on social media containing elder abuse is being investigat­ed by Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department.

Police said the initial investigat­ion started in Delaware. That investigat­ion determined that the incident occurred in East Goshen Township.

The victim has been identified and is safe. To protect the integrity of this investigat­ion, police are not releasing additional details.

When the investigat­ion ends, police will release full details. Meanwhile, police ask anyone with informatio­n about the investigat­ion to contact the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department at 610-692-5100.

PURSE SNATCHED >> Last week, a man was observed entering the Giant Food Store in East Goshen and walked directly to the area of the store where a woman was shopping with her back turned to her shopping cart. Police said the suspect walked past her and quickly grabbed her purse from the cart while concealing the purse with a shirt he had on his shoulder. The suspect exited the store, spending less than one minute inside the store. He was last seen exiting the parking lot in a red Chrysler 300 sedan.

DUI >> On July 20, at 2:49 a.m., West Chester Police conducted a traffic stop in

the area of Church and Virginia Streets. Officers made contact with the operator Rohan Reid, 32 of West Chester. Reid was arrested for DUI and was taken to West Chester Police station for processing and released to the Chester County Constables for an active warrant. ASSAULT >> On July 15, at 2:25 p.m. West Chester Police officers responded to Scenic Drive, West Chester, for a report of an assault. Officers made contact with David Griffin, 69, of West Chester. Griffin was taken into custody for Simple Assault and Harassment. Griffin was processed, and transporte­d to Chester County Prison to be arraigned. ASSAULT WITH KNIFE >> On July 20, at 4 a.m., West Chester Police officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 600 block of South Walnut Street for the report of a subject threatenin­g others with a knife. Officers identified Dean Harley, 21, of Newtown, as the subject

who allegedly threatened them with a knife. A verbal argument escalated into a physical altercatio­n. Harley is alleged to have kicked in a door and threaten several people with a knife. Officers located a knife at the scene. Harley was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Possessing Instrument­s of Crime and related charges. ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING >> On July 17, at 6 p.m., West Chester Police officers were dispatched to the area of South Penn Street and East Barnard Street for the report of an attempted kidnapping of a juvenile. The juvenile described the male as white, approximat­ely 5 feet 4 inches tall, in his 40s, bald head with black hair on the sides, black beard, and wearing a white Tshirt. The white man was last seen driving a gray sedan, possibly a Kia, east on Barnard St. toward Bolmar Street. This incident is under investigat­ion by West Chester Police Department.
