Rides, games, live music all week at Goshen Country Fair

WEST CHESTER >> The 70th annual Goshen Country Fair kicked off Monday, July 29 and will take place all week, ending Saturday, Aug. 3.

In addition to amusement rides, there are exhibits of dairy cows, sheep, goats, rabbits and poultry.

The Goshen Country Fair grounds are located at 1320 Park Avenue, just off Route 3 in West Chester. Grounds open at 6 p.m. daily, and at 5 p.m. on Aug. 3. On Aug. 3, there are reduced rides from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to live music, there will be games of chance, Cow Pie Bingo, a tug-of-war, a pie-eating contest every night, and food tents. Some of the food available for sale include pizza, cheesestea­ks, fried pickles, fried mushrooms, mac & cheese, jalapeno poppers, Buffalo chicken nuggets, onion rings, corn on the cob, hot dogs, ham

burgers and much more. The annual chicken dinner will take place Aug. 3.

Live music on Tuesday is Johnny “Cash” Barnett, on Wednesday it’s West Chester Swing Kings Band, on Thursday, it’s Charlie Gracie, on Friday it’s Chester County Lawmen Band, and on Saturday it’s the Southern Edge Band.

On Saturday, there’s a candy scramble for kids at 7 p.m.

Ride prices are two tickets for $3, 24 tickets for $25 and $50 for 54 tickets. On Tuesday and Thursday, it’s $30 for a wristband that permits riding on all amusement rides.

The Goshen Country Fair has sponsored the Tug-OWar competitio­n for more than 60 years. Some of the past champions of the TugO-War contest are Ludwig’s Corner Fire Co, Lionville Fire Co, Fame Fire Co, Goodwill Fire Co, Edgemont Fire Co, and 1st West Chester Fire Co. On July 30, Downingtow­n Fire Co. goes up against West Bradford Fire Co. and Lionville Fire Co. goes up against Middletown Fire Co.
