Tri-County Area Federal Credit Union recently presented a $1,500 donation to the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department to be used for the expansion of the police department’s bodyworn camera program. The expansion would include having cameras deployed with every on duty officer. Currently the department’s school resource officer is equipped with the body-worn camera. A matching grant application has been submitted to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime & Delinquency and the Department of Justice for 10 additional body-worn cameras at a total cost of $17,816. If approved, the township would be responsible for half the cost of the equipment and software. Deployment would come in late 2019 or early 2020, if the grant is approved.
