Downingtown East choir named an All-State Performing Ensemble
UWCHLAN >> The Downingtown East Masterworks Choir has been chosen out of 130 entries to perform at the 2020 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Conference.
The purpose of the annual All-State performance exhibition is to showcase the top performing bands, choirs and orchestras of various age groups (K-12, collegiate, professional) to a statewide conference of music educators. The conference next year is from April 23-25 at the Kalahari Resort in the Poconos. Their performance will take place on April 24, 2020.
“It is an honor to have one of my choirs selected,” said Downingtown East’s Choral Director Adam Speakman. “The audience will be comprised of my music educator colleagues and our choir will serve as an exemplar of the musical standard by which we all strive for our ensembles to reach.”
Due to the limited size of the performance venue and the purpose of the convention as an educational demonstration to showcase the state’s premier performing ensembles, attendance at the conference’s performances are limited to
PMEA Conference attendees who have registered for the conference, the student performers and a limited number of trip chaperones. The Masterworks Choir will perform the entirety of their PMEA conference program locally for parents, relatives, and friends of the choir as part of their regularly scheduled Spring Concert on May 1, 2020 at 7 p.m. at Downingtown East High School.
PMEA is an affiliate of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). With more than 4,500 members, the mission of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association is to advance comprehensive and innovative music education for all students through quality teaching, rigorous learning and meaningful music engagement.
