Three-day craft brew weekend coming to West Chester
WEST CHESTER » The spotlight will shine on the award-winning craft breweries and restaurants of Chester County’s Brandywine Valley, as City Brew Tours and the Chester County Conference & Visitors Bureau co-host BVBrewscene Craft Beer Weekend taking place April 24 to 26.
With 500-plus anticipated attendees gathering for a three-day event to celebrate the art of pairing beer with food, this ultimate beer and culinary weekend is not like a traditional beerfest. Attendees will learn from the founders of Chester County’s breweries how they craft their delicious elixirs with behindthe-scenes production tours at 16 local breweries, food from over 12 local restaurants, included shuttle service and discounted tickets to local attractions.
Only minutes from Philadelphia International Airport and just a short drive from New York, Baltimore, and Washington DC, the weekend will explore everything the Brandywine Valley has to offer. It’s the perfect reason for Spring Beercation.
“Most people think of wine pairings at fine dining establishments, but we wanted craft beer to have center stage for this weekend. In fact, craft beer is a more versatile and approachable beverage to pair with food than wine”, says Chad Brodsky, founder of City Brew Tours. He continues, “I’m particularly excited about some of the
pairings like a Belgian Tripel and the roasted crispy duck wing dressed in a sweet and spicy sauce from The Gables at Chadds Ford. The spices and game flavor of fowl promise an explosion of contrast with the sweet and fruity esters of a Belgian Tripel.”
The weekend will kick-off with a craft beer & food festival hosted at the American Helicopter Museum & Education Center. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious smallplate pairings from some of the area’s best breweries and restaurants. Featured breweries include Victory, Locust Lane, La Cabra, Stolen Sun, and Root Down among many others.
Each brewery will serve two different beers and every beer will be expertly paired with a unique menu item from partnering local restaurants like The Whip Tavern, Hearth Kitchen, The Gables at Chadds Ford, Bamba Taco + Bar, Kennett Square Inn and many more. The festival will round out with music and games while guests meander, samples in hand, around the helicopters throughout the museum. And that’s just the first night.
Guests will awaken on day two with time to explore the Brandywine Valley’s many featured local attractions. Passholders
shouldn’t venture too far, however, because their first brewery tour kicks off at 2 pm sharp on Saturday. Both unique, expertly curated brewery tours on Saturday and Sunday will transport attendees to four different breweries. Tours begin from one of four partner hotels, spread across Chester County. On each tour attendees will receive guided behind-the-scenes experiences and a beer and snack pairing at every stop. All experiences will be led by the expert Beer Guides of City Brew Tours.
General Admission passes for the weekend start at $150 per person. There are a limited number of VIP passes which offer dedicated check-in at the festival, reserved seating on tour buses, admission to a VIP-only bottle share event with special Q&A from the founder of (TBA) Brewery and a commemorative souvenir. Passes are now on sale and prices will increase on March 15. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit citybrewtours. com/bvbrewscene
