Local restaurants to square off in cooking competition
It’s almost that time of year again when the heart and taste buds come together for the Chef’s Best food competition benefiting ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester.
The public is invited to attend the Ninth Annual Chef’s Best on Thursday, March 19 at the West Chester University Alumni and Foundation Center where every attendee gets to cast their vote for the “Best of Chef’s Best.”
Last year’s Asian Pork Taco by Ram’s Head Bar and Grill was the fête du jour, beating out a Buttered Shrimp Tostada, Asian Ahi Tuna Wonton, Raw Bar and Smoked Duck Sub.
“We’re excited to be back and defend our title,” said Ram’s Head Chef James Jones. “We can’t wait to share our brand of elevated comfort food at this year’s Chef’s Best competition. Our approach is always the same in competition and in the restaurant — high quality ingredients speak for themselves!”
This year’s attending guests will enjoy the mouth-watering offerings of three new top local restaurant competitors: Opa Taverna, Slow Hand and VuDu Lounge. Tickets are $60 and available for purchase at www.actinfaithgwc.org.
“This event not only raises money and awareness for our mission, it also provides wonderful exposure for our very generous area restaurants. It’s a win-win. Last year we raised more than $26,000 for many of our community’s under-resourced,” says ACT in Faith Board President Denise Antonelli, who
is also a partner at West Chester law firm Gawthrop Greenwood.
All proceeds support ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester, an interfaith organization that seeks to empower un- and under-employed West Chester residents to stabilize their households and build toward sustainability. Services include eviction and utility shut-off prevention, employment support services and a Community Cupboard, which provides personal care and household items as well as dry food goods and homemade frozen meals.
Chef’s Best 2020 lead sponsors include Back Office Thinking, Better Than Bacon Comedy Improv, Gawthrop Greenwood, PC, and Sun East Charitable Foundation. Generous support is also provided by Brandywine Catering and other local businesses/organizations.
Tickets are $60 ($25 of which is tax deductible), and wine and beer are available for an additional contribution. To purchase tickets or become an individual or corporate sponsor, visit http://www.actinfaithgwc.org/, call 484-324-8492 or email contact@actinfaithwc.org.
