KOP TOWN CENTER SUMMER SERIES
The King of Prussia Town Center’s Live! Summer (Virtual) Series continues Friday, May 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Town Center’s Facebook page with a performance by Joe Miralles with Gary Houk. Upcoming in the series are the Keith Chastin Trio on May 22 and the Stephanie Brown Duo on May 29.
JOHN FLYNN CONCERT
The Philadelphia Folksong Society presents a virtual concert by Philadelphia Folk Festival favorite John Flynn on Sunday, May 17, from 3to 4:30p.m. Donations ranging from $5to $50are requested on the registration page at www.pfs. org/digitalvenue. After paying, you will be able to view the concert on a private Facebook group page. Flynn is a singer-songwriter and activist whose career has embodied an authentic troubadour odyssey that moved the late folk DJ Gene Shay to call him “the most quintessential folk singer in my life.” Deana McCloud, executive director of the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, Okla., wrote: “John Flynn is the real deal. His work follows in the footsteps of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Kris Kristofferson and other social justice troubadours as he speaks the truth and gives a voice to society’s disenfranchised. His work fills your heart and opens your eyes as he continues to walk the walk of a true advocate for equality, justice and peace.”
KISSINGER’S CHURCH BENEFIT CONCERT
Kissinger’s Church, Wyomissing, is holding a livestream benefit concert on Sunday, May 17, at 4 p.m. to benefit Healthy Harvest, a food bank serving Berks County. Featured performers will be Jeff Krick Sr. (Elvis tribute artist), Dave Reinwald and Lee Schappell, performing the music of Elvis, John Denver and other oldies. The event will be streamed on the church’s YouTube channel.
SLY FOX BOCK FEST
Sly Fox Brewing’s Bock Fest and Goat Race goes virtual on Facebook Live on Sunday, May 17, at 2 p.m. It will include a virtual goat race and Masskrugstemmen (stein hoisting competition), with host Alex Meixner. For details on how to participate, see www.slyfoxbeer. com/bockfest.
HOOTENANY AT HOME
People’s Light theater company of Malvern presents David Lutken’s Hootenany at Home, a livestreaming event featuring troubadour Lutken and an ensemble of musicians, on Thursday, May 14, at 7:30p.m. and Sunday, May 17, at 2p.m. Each of these free special events includes a mix of pre-recorded songs, live jam sessions and requests from the audience. Joining Lutken will be Eric Anthony, Brittany Brook, Maggie Hollinbeck, David Lutken, Andy Teirstein and Spiff Wiegand, many of whom are familiar from recent People’s Light productions. “THE BARBER OF SEVILLE”
Opera Philadelphia’s Digital Festival continues with the streaming premiere of “The Barber of Seville” on Friday, May 15, at 8p.m. on Youtube and at operaphila.org/digitalfestival. Rossini’s rapid-fire romp kicks off with a famous overture and veers into a hilarious series of disguises, trickery and tomfoolery. The opera runs 2hours and 54minutes with a 20-minute intermission.
