Tower Health to open 3 locations
WEST READING » Tower Health has announced that it will open three new urgent care facilities — two in Chester County and one in Berks County over the next month.
The first location is scheduled to open on Monday, July 6 Tower Health Urgent Care North Coventry, located at 16 Glocker Way in North Coventry, Chester County.
The second location, opening on Monday, July 20, is Tower Health Urgent Care Sinking Spring, located at 4860 Penn Ave. in South Heidelberg, Berks County. The third location, opening on Monday,
Aug. 3 is Tower Health Urgent Care Thorndale, located at 3411 Lincoln Highway, Suite 3451 in Caln Township, Chester County.
With the addition of the new locations, the healthcare system now operates 25 urgent care locations across its geographic footprint.
All Tower Health Urgent Care facilities are open 365 days a year from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., providing walk-in care for a variety of conditions including: colds, flu, allergies, asthma, sore throat, sports injuries, minor lacerations, sprains, earaches and earaches, as well as preventative services such as physicals, vaccines and occupational health. In addition, each Tower Health Urgent Care facilities offers on-site access to lab and imaging if needed.
“Tower Health is committed to providing care when and where our communities need it,” Clint Matthews, president and CEO, Tower Health, said in a press release. “Urgent Care is an essential link in our continuum of care that connects patients to a physician if they do not have a primary care doctor or their doctor is not available.”
To provide fully integrated care, all Tower Health Urgent Care Centers will use Epic, the electronic medical record in use across Tower Health. Epic brings patient health information from Tower Health care sites into one health record, leading to more informed clin
ical decisions, improved outcomes, and seamlessly coordinated care.
“Our new Tower Health Urgent Care Centers are state-of-the-art facilities,” Charles Barbera, MD, vice president, pre-hospital and unscheduled care at Tower Health, said in the release. “The facility will be staffed by board-certified Tower Health physicians and advanced practice providers and will utilize the same medical record as Tower Health hospitals and physician practices. We look forward to providing care to the communities we are joining.”
The electronic medical record system was phased in across Tower Health’s system, with the urgent care facilities completing the process in March of this year.
Tower Health Urgent Care is the largest provider of urgent care services by locations in southeastern Pennsylvania.
The healthcare system acquired 19 urgent care facilities previously owned by Premier Urgent Care in December 2018, officially forming a new business line — Tower Health Urgent Care. The facilities are located in the health care provider’s southeast service area including Chester, Montgomery, Berks and Bucks County.
The new facilities had not been used previously as healthcare facilities Tower Health said Wednesday in an emailed response to questions. Construction on the sites varies depending on the type of existing facility and physical alterations needed. However, most are completed between 120-160 days.
The Berks County-based Tower Health owns six of the region’s hospitals including: Brandywine Hospital, Chestnut Hill Hospital, Jennersville Hospital, Pottstown Hospital, Phoenixville Hospital and Reading Hospital, as well as St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, a partnership of Tower Health and Drexel University in Philadelphia.
