Edward V. Moran, Jr., (Ned), (68), of East Bradford, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Paoli Hospital after a three year struggle with Lewy Body Dementia and a quick battle with Covid 19.

He was born on February 22, 1952, to Edward V Moran, Sr, and Rita Mulreany Moran in WilkesBarre, PA. His childhood was spent in Larksville, PA. He graduated from St Vincent’s High School in Plymouth, PA, and Shippensburg University.

Ned had a long, successful career in Surety Bond Underwriting. He served as the Philadelphia branch bond manager (senior vice-president) for CNA Insurance Company and led his staff to become the highest grossing branch in the country.

A lover of sports, Ned was an avid golfer at Radley Run Country Club and The Golf Club of Amelia Island, where he had a second home. As a young man, he competed in half-marathons and then switched to cycling, competing in local distance races. He loved watching his son play ice hockey and lacrosse, so he soon joined a men’s ice hockey group and coached youth lacrosse. He skied out West and scuba dived in the Caribbean. He always regretted going to a high school which didn’t have a football team because he loved playing pickup football; to compensate, he was the center on the basketball team.

Ned became the family videographer when he started recording his daughter’s dance recitals and Nutcracker performances with The Chester County Ballet Company and Harrison Dance Studios, oftentimes focusing on the wrong girl. According to Ned, every girl in a bun looks the same! His videos of family vacations and events recorded his quick wit and dry humor.

His best times were spent at his second home in Amelia Island, Florida, where he entertained family and friends. You rarely found him relaxing in his beach chair since days were spent golfing with his son and friends, making his signature margaritas, playing in the surf, and building sandcastles with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Lorraine P Moran (Zurinski); his daughter, Kelly Showers (Ben); his son, Edward V Moran, III - Chip (Katie); his sisters, Nancy Evans; Molly Moran (Karen Kugler); Donna McCreery (Kevin); and brother in law, Donald Zurinski (Mary Ann). He has four special grandchildren, Brayden and Camryn Showers, and Lyla and June Moran. Ned never missed a soccer game of his grandson or a dance performance by his granddaughters. He also has eight nieces and nephews.

Ned was predeceased by his younger brother Michael in 2000, his father Ed in 2004, and his mother Rita in 2016.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, February 6, 2021, from 10:00 am - 10:45 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 15 East Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA 19382; followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.

Interment will be held in Oakland’s Cemetery, West Chester, PA.
